NEW YORK (Friday, 18 March 2011)-Major League Soccer has relaunched its Reserve League, with matches starting this weekend. The Book League, which will provide development opportunities for players was facilitated by increased a payroll of over 24 teams to 30 players. MLS clubs had reserve teams, from 2005 to 2008, benefiting young players like Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes), Golden Boot winner of the 2010 MLS Budweiser as well as Omar Cummings, Jeff Larentowicz, and Kosuke Kimura of the current MLS Cup champion Colorado Rapids, among others.
The new Reserve League is split into divisions MLS East, West and Central with the teams facing each division rival twice for a total of 10 games per team. Clubs may schedule additional parties reserve their payrolls against teams that do not belong to the MLS. Parties where they face two MLS teams will begin on March 20 and conclude Oct. 16.
