NEW YORK (Wednesday, March 16, 2011)-Major League Soccer announced the penalties for two players involved in two separate incidents during the recently completed pre-season period:
Jair Benítez, FC Dallas defender was suspended for one game - the first game of the club for the regular season which will take place this Saturday when they face Chicago - and fined $ 500 for his actions during a preseason game against the Houston Dynamo on 12 February. The Committee decided to suspend for two games Benitez, which the Players Association filed an appeal. MLS Commissioner Don Garber reduced the suspension to one game.
The Disciplinary Committee Major League Soccer has fined Real Salt Lake defender Jamison Olave $ 250 for publicly criticizing an official of the League through a virtual social environment after a preseason game where they faced the Kansas City Sporting March 8.
